Millennium Horse (Green)
Millennium Horse (Green)
Husidio John Tempest
The Millennium Horse consummates the simplistic ribbon style incorporated in my father Gerard Tempest's art, Abstract Spiritualism.
Horses were prominent in the 400 year heritage of art, stemming from Antonio Tempesta (Florence and Rome, circa 1600). Tempesta was copied by Rembrandt, and continued down line through Rubens into the romantic period of Giorgio deChirico (the father of surrealism and metaphysical art) in the 1930s.
Mentored by deChirico, continued in emphasizing the horse's dynamic role within his contemporary art style.
The clean and linear ribbon forms in the Millennium Horse denote the evolvement of our culture into the 21st century. The the lower smear of earthy brow denotes the still tarnished reality that underscores our technological society of our present era, as shown in the blue/steel ribbons.“Millennium Horse (Green)” by Husidio John Tempest.
